  talked to wife about new light!

  i showed my wife the new light, it did not go over good.

  i started with all the publications and asked her three questions 1 who is the fds 2when did they start 3 when did they get appointed over "all the belongings"?

  using the recent publications she said 1 the fds is 144000 2 they started in the 1st centry 3 they were over all belongings in 1919. then i showed her the annual meeting report on the jw.org and went over each point.

  coming from aguest's thread where she showed us the article that describes a "brain drain" that has been occuring for centuries do to "mutations" i can't help but be a little fed up with how much negativity comes from the land of science.

  sure, facts are facts and they do not set out to sound good or bad, but instead of identifying the problems of doom, like our brains are devolving, why not focus on the solutions to those problems?

  where are the hopes and dreams that our culture so desperately holds onto which actually provides the drive to progress towards them.

  I have always figured this:

  Once upon a time we had our own manufacturing industries. Then we began to allow cheap import goods from overseas, japan at first but most notably china. There was no way we could compete because the wages there were so low. After a while we sent all of our machinery to the scrap yard amd melted them down, sent the steel to china to make crap goods that we bought. The once thriving company i once worked for literally died because of China and the retailers that felt they had to stock imported goods, and in fact, they had to because their competition did.

  Then one day, china will say something like "ha! You no can make now, you pay more!"

  China is a two edged sword for me. I really try to buy australian made but it is damn near impossible. As a manufacturer, i loath China and actually wont sell or deal with them at all. They are the knock off kings and i will be buggered if i will send them my stuff to copy. I hate having to buy imported crap (and that is what most of it is) because i cant get better. I see all the clothing stores, all the hardware stores, chock a block of chinese and other imports and realize that $5 item i had to buy cost them 50c and some guy got paid 5c to make it.

  If china gets dearer maybe, just maybe we will claw back some our manufaturing abilities, but i doubt it. The cost of re-tooling is to large.

  Globalization has meant that Chine, tiawan, india etc are the manufaturing entities and the western world are the consumer entities.

  I am lucky that what i make is one off custom work a lot of the time and my clientel like to deal with an aussie, that said, damn china is making inroads into my living nonetheless.

  there have been rumors about this craft for years, as well as strange sightings.. in addition, over the past week, a tv show that was shelved for 2 years was quietly put on air at 3am.

  it claimed to interview a government employee who had detailed pictures of mars - far better than what nasa shows the public- together with testimony that the us has been to mars, using craft put together from technology gained from ufo crashes.

  Cant say I agree Terry, although i can see your point.

  As a kid dragged into the whole crap shoot it was all i knew. Yes the tricks were there, but on those so young and those born in...no wishing to be fooled about it.

  Fooled no, deceived yes.

  Illusion presented as reality and fed to me as reality, became reality.

  Now, if i went back, then i would say i wished to be fooled...

  Of course, the 'lower' status religions simply cannot applaud the commission.

  No doubt the Catholic and Anglicans would prefer to not, but are savvy enough and wealthy enough to weather the storm. They have become institutions of society and will change to stay as such, but the others?

  Well they are far smaller but more arrogant, more self righteous and secretive... and have a lot more to lose in a way.

  Slowly slowly the curtain tears as the world media slashes at the veil of these religions.

  Remember though, TV shows are there as vehicles for advertising and will aim to make controversial (yet informative) shows, particularly of the 'reality' variety, not out of concern or interest for the people but rather for ratings.

  So to those who do want to be involved, beware and be careful, as per Barbera's post.

  ...(here on jwn) about stephen unthank's case in australia, lately.. i thought that was over and done with.

  am i wrong?.

  (i'd asked about it when something was hinted at in another thread, but whatever...).

  There is probably no way the federal government is not aware of the unthank case.

  The commission was initialy planned with the Catholic Church in Aust as its focus but so much information has come out about other 'religions' such as the Exclusive Bretheran, Scientologists and the Jehovahs Witnesses that they cannot keep it so narrow. Remember, Mr Unthank appeared before some other parlimentary enquiry earlier this year and the Prime Ministers office was also CC'd by Unthank on his case at the time as I recall.

  It will be grand if they can abolish the whole 'clergy/laity' privlege and force these outdated institutions to become step into the real world.

  I hope Mr Unthank has a lot to say in this development.

  Deprogramming kids when JWs came knocking

  so i had my two daughters with me this weekend (their jw mom has them the next one) and it was saturday morning around 10am and i said let's have a short "daddy school" on how to do research on the internet.

  so they were plopped on each side of me and my laptop and i was inbetween and was showing them how you can type in "jehovah's witnesses" or "watchtower society" and get lots of vids off youtube on these things and that they can always do their own research if they have any questions on the things they hear at the kh when their mother takes them.. so we were watching one and right then there was a knock at the door and it was two teenage jw girls (from a neighboring cong) offering the magazines... very funny!

  my oldest got rid of them and they were giggling and laughing about how weird it was that they would show up right then.. the jws are popping up everywhere in my life lately, ie, at the store, at the mall, at the gym, etc.

  Jan 1 1989 Watchtower pg12 and the Bound volume later in the year had a very significant change...

  WT: "He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century"

  BV: "He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our day"

  Truth book had a reprint change as well between the 1968 and the 1981 revision in the before and after 1975 hype

  Millenial dawn had a pretty good change new light between the 1902 and 1924 editions.
